GUI login via URL on iPad doesn't use stored password [unRAID 6.12.13 and earlier]

Featured Replies

I've had this small irritation for quite a while now, I'm not sure exactly when it began.. It's from well over a year ago, maybe two.

When I login to the web GUI of my unRAID server using Safari on my iPhone or any of my three Mac computers, the browser lets me use the stored login credentials (synchronised over the Apple iCloud service). But this feature doesn't work on my iPad. It shows no hint that I have stored login credentials for this server, but it also doesn't ask if I want to save my login credentials after I have manually enter "root" plus my password. If I use the raw IP address to reach my unRAID server, then it works as it should. This is very strange and I wonder if anyone else has experienced it.

I called Apple Support, and we have tried various tricks including deleting the login credentials from the keychain (password manager) and creating them again, purging the browser cache, upgrade to iPadOS 18.0, full factory reset and restore of a backup, and a full factory reset without restore. Nothing has helped so far, except for the workaround of using the IP address. I recognise that asking here is a long shot, but I and the Apple Support engineers are stumped.
