How to get unRAID to use new drive?

Featured Replies

I have expanded my array from just a single data drive to two data drives + parity.  However, when creating new files, it still only uses the original data disk.  I have the user shares set to "most free", so I can't figure out why the second drive is not used.

Without more info to go on, a common simple answer is to change the Split level setting for the share from 0 to 1, the default is 0.

Yes, a split level of 0 instructs the unRaid software to never duplicate a top level folder on any other drive and to use it only where they currently exist.

A split level of "1" will automatically duplicate the top-level folder (one if your user-shares) to other drives as needed.  a split level of 2 will duplicate the top two levels of folders as needed.... etc.
