February 11, 201214 yr Hi Guys, Writing to my MOVIES share, CouchPotato (installed on my HTPC) is replacing outdated inferior quality movies with a higher quality copy successfully. However, instead of replacing the original mkv file with a new one, it seems to delete that file, leave behind the meta data, and then create a new folder on a different HDD with the new mkv. I am using the follow share setup: MOVIES (Split Level 1) Shouldn't CouchPotato be replacing the mkv in the same original folder? Thanks for any help, this is driving me nuts!
February 16, 201214 yr split level too low. set it to 2. whats happening is this. CP deletes the old file on disk1. then beings to copy the new file. because Split Level is 1, it copies based on allocation method only. if the allocation method shows that disk2 has more free space then it creates the movie folder there, and copies the new file there.
February 16, 201214 yr What is the directory structure in the Movies share? How is Couchpotato accessing the Movies share? split level too low. set it to 2. whats happening is this. CP deletes the old file on disk1. then beings to copy the new file. because Split Level is 1, it copies based on allocation method only. if the allocation method shows that disk2 has more free space then it creates the movie folder there, and copies the new file there. Your interpretation or understanding of split level is wrong. Level 1 means the Movies share directory can split to multiple disks but no directory under the share can split. Level 1 does not mean that only the allocation method is used. Using something like level 10 or level 99 would mean it falls back to the allocation method. Peter
April 15, 201214 yr Author Peter, After reading a few more of your threads on Split Level, it finally clicked for me. "Level" refers to the level of the directory that CAN be split. Simple as that. Phew! With that said, I've switched to Level 1, and I have no more problems with duplicate folders. HOWEVER, I am still having the same CouchPotato problem which is... Whenever CP grabs a higher quality file, it replaces the video, but does not replace the TBN file. This results in XBMC incorrectly displaying video quality IE, shows 480p, when in reality, the file has been updated to 720p etc Thanks!
April 19, 201214 yr the TBN is the image for the ThumBNail it has nothing to do with the quality flag. the quality flag is in the NFO. if CP does not update the NFO file you should put a ticket in with the developer.
