Random Unraid shutdowns and having to unplug the Unraid flash drive

Featured Replies

Hi, lately I've been experiencing random Unraid shutdowns, mainly when running Plex. I'm not sure if it's my NVIDIA GPU transcoder or something else, I did a Memtest and all seemed fine.

My latest Unraid log doesn't seem to reveal much but perhaps I'm missing something.

When the system shuts crashes the PC's power light flashes and when I do shut down I have to remove the Unraid USB and reinsert or else it won't boot up.

Do you mean the server shuts down by itself?

Sorry I should have been clearer with my wording . The server stops working, I can't use the GUI and docker apps no longer respond. I then have to shut down by holding the power button. But no it doesn't power down the PC by itself.

That log only has a few lines and nothing relevant to the issue, was that from after a crash?

It was the last log line from before the crash I'm afraid. I have the setting so that the previous log is saved to the USB.

What is strange is that my router allocates address is in the 192.168.4.XX range but the DHCP requests are for 192.168.122.84

It has happened before an likewise the last log lines never seem to give any relevant information. Which seems odd as I would have thought that it would have logged something.

Without anything logged, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.

Thanks, I think I'll try booting into GUI mode first to see if I can do anything when if and when it next crashes. I may also change the Unraid USB in case that is an issue, seeing as I have to unplug it it seems suspicious.
