slydog75 Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 So I've been running a drobo connected to a Windows nuc for probably 15 years. I learned recently that Drobo, as a company, no longer exists so I need to retire this setup. My plan is to set up an unRaid server and transfer everything over from the drobo where I have just under 4TB of data. My question is, if I get a 4TB drive and add that to unRaid then copy everything over from the Drobo via my network, can I then add the old drives from the Drobo to unRaid and have it join them to the first drive with the data already on it? Thanks in advance. Quote
Solution JorgeB Posted September 23, 2024 Solution Posted September 23, 2024 Yes, but the old drives will need to be re-formatted. 1 Quote
wgstarks Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Also remember that if you plan to eventually have parity protection the parity drive must be at least as large as the largest data drive so figure out which drive that will be and install it last after all the data has been transferred. This will also speed up the transfer. Quote
