February 12, 201214 yr unRaid 4.7 pro Please see attached for error and syslog. I get this error quite often when transferring. Nothing else is being done on either machine. What could be the problem? Syslog.txt
February 12, 201214 yr sounds like a switch or something in the network it self is having problems.... Are you on wireless on the client or wired? i would try restarting the router or switches in between the server and client.
February 17, 201214 yr Author I am wired. This only happens with Teracopy. Copying without Teracopy works just fine. Also, using Windows Vista, it looks like every time I try to copy, windows tries to index the unRaid share. I think that is what is timing out Teracopy. Does unRaid have an auto disconnect feature? I was reading this http://www.windows7hacker.com/index.php/2011/03/how-to-fix-the-red-x-on-the-icon-of-mapped-network-drives-in-windows-7/ as a potential cause.
February 18, 201214 yr Author Anyone know what the section highlighted in red means? The green bar that progresses to the right takes a long time and seems to be the reason teracopy times out when copying. Even when in cmd window, accessing my unRaid share (Z drive) takes 10s or longer. Merely switching to the z: mapped network drive doesn't occur until the green bar fills up.
February 18, 201214 yr Windows is scanning all the entire media files in that folder to generate thumbnails and gather media info.
February 18, 201214 yr Author Windows is scanning all the entire media files in that folder to generate thumbnails and gather media info. Is there a way to stop windows from doing that and could it be the reason teracopy fails? I always have the destination folder open when I copy and maybe windows rescans the folder everyone once in a while which might cause teracopy to time out?
February 18, 201214 yr I've been getting similar behavior from teracopy. My guess is that it's a teracopy issue because this program seems a little flaky to me. The dev didn't touch it for a long time, but seems to be back on deck so hopefully some stability fixes will be forthcoming.
