Plex transcoding failure - No VA display found

Featured Replies

Hi,

First apologize because I know this is a well known subject, and believe me I tried a lot of things before posting a new topic for help but now I just can't see what is wrong with my setup.

First my config : I have Unraid 6.12.13 on a machine using an Asus motherboard PRIME N100I-D D4 with SoC Intel N100 (both HVM and IOMMU enabled).

I followed instructions from the ***GUIDE*** Plex Hardware Acceleration using Intel Quick Sync

I have proper devices :

And setup the path in docker :

From the container it looks like :

In Plex, my settings are properly configured (I have the Plex Pass of course) :

And yet, the transcode is still software (cpu at 100% and no "hw" mention during playback). The GPU Statistics plugin confirms that gpu is not used at all.

Only clue I have is this logs from Plex :

I'm obviously missing something here but I can't see what.

I've read here that :

Quote

First, QuickSync and hw transcoding doesn't appear to work on this iGPU with a kernel earlier than 6.2. The 6.2 kernel is already end-of-life, so look for a 6.3 or 6.4 kernel. Don't be afraid to compile it yourself, a 6.4 kernel builds in about 45 minutes on an N100 and works great.

So I upgraded to Unraid 7 beta 2 (which uses kernel 6.8.12) but that didn't change anything so I downgraded to 6.12.13.

I'm seen there is a "Intel i915 SR-IOV" plugin but it's in beta state so not sure if I need it?

Thanks for any help :)

I would try passing a device instead of a path 😉

@Mainfrezzer I love you! That did the trick, I knew I was missing something, I'm glad this was so simple (no 3rd party driver to install, no beta version, just misconfiguration 😅).

Cheers!
