Forum error: "An appropriate representation of the requested resource"

Featured Replies

I just spent a few minutes posting a new post (post a few lines, edit, post a few more lines) to get it to post.

The error I'm getting (if I didn't do that) was

...................................

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /forum/index.php could not be found on this server.

...................................

Tried it with both Chrome and IE, same results.

{AARRGG... doing it with this post... breaking it down into lines and modifying it ... seems to happen more often if I put a line of dashes in the post - can't prove it though}

I had the same issue.

It was when I had 3 or more dashes in a row.

It might have to do with http multipart form protocol or something like that.

Not sure it's helpful or relevant for this version of SMF,  but some googling on the error text has several references to "mod_security" being at least one of the causes, or updates to it to fix it.    I'm not a SMF person, so take that with a grain of salt.    I was googling to see for solutions that I might be able to do on my end.

Ditto on the complaint.  I can't start a new topic in the support forum.  I had rows of dashes blocking a section of text.  After taking them out, my post worked fine.
