Stop array - stuck and Sync Filesystem

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Stopping my array so I can reboot and its been stuck at Sync Filesystem for about 10 minutes... any ideas what would hold it up or cause it to hang here? Could it be a plugin? In the past they have simply shut down when I try to stop the array but not this time...

Any thoughts?

here is my syslog

  • 1 year later...

my system is stuck on filesync as well. did you ever figure out what happened or how to get it past this point?

Ether an add-on is running or a terminal working directory is open.

agreed.

i manually stop my plugins (CP/SB/Trans) before stopping the array. If i dont it gets stuck right there.

I just upgraded from version 4.7 to the final 5.0 version and experienced the same problem. This was never the case before. This time the console was just sitting there at the blinking cursor and waiting for return results, keyboard did not do anything. Didn't try a Putty session. Finally I waited for a few minutes but nothing happened, wanted to go hit the sack, so in desparation I just held down the power button and the server powered down, not advised to do and not an elegant method.

Powered it back on and after reboot typed from the console "poweroff" server powered off. Turned it back on this morning and it went into a parity check and corrected one Sync Error, it is still checking parity for another 2 hours.

The advise here about unmounting the data discs is excellent but if it is not possible to give keyboard commands from the console because it is waiting for the return code/data will it accept keyboard commands from a Putty session?

Also how do I change the settings so that it keeps the logs for at least a week and puts it like it did before in a separate directory?

I can look at the syslog from UnMenu or UnRaid's GUI but before I had a directory on the flash drive that was called logs which kept logs for about a week, but this is no longer the case.

Thanks

O2G

Suggestion please update to 5 i386 this should help.

Well that is what I meant by final version 5.0. I am running the stable i386 release of version 5, so your suggestion would not help.

Just finished the parity check, copied a 10GB file to the array after that topping the array and powering down the server went without a hitch. Love these intermittent problems caused by solar flares  ::)
