I am running unRAID 4.7 and have tried to get ps3ms up and running for days. First it took a long time to get all libs etc installed since some links where broke.

Now I am able to start the media server and find it in XBMC, but the problem is that the media content is not showing? That is I can’t even see the empty dummy directories.

 

PMS.conf  looks like this

1.    I did try a chmod 777 –R on the folder /mnt(Not working)

2.    I did try a chmod 766 –R on the folder /mnt(Not working)

3.    I did try to unmount the shares.. Place a single mp3. file in /mnt or just create some dummy folders(Not showing/working)

4.    I did try to place a single mp3 file in /tmp/javaps3media (Not working)

5.    I read a thread about someone that had a problem with empty folders because of a missing ‘US.UTF-8’ in the conf file.  Then I added this setting to the conf file but it still gives me no content.

6.    Everything works in XBMC if I run the PS3MS server on my windows machine.

I'm not sure if you are still looking for a solution or if my solution will help you.

I am running PS3 Media Server and it is working for me. However, I am running it on my Linux Desktop with the media library on my Unraid box.

MP3s play and playlists work (.pls format).

Respond if you are still out there.

XMBC will work with SMB shares. PS3Mediaserver is not required.

Yep I've been running XBMC without a media server for several years. However I wouldn't mind getting a media server up for my PS3 and my Xbox, but luckily they are all on the same tv so it's been a moot issue.
