Nextcloud share vanishes, can't add new shares.

Featured Replies

I recently decided to try installing Nextcloud again. linuxservers version failed to install with some vague error so I tried the official repo. Now my nextcloud share has vanished I can't add a new one? Like what?

This may stem from frustration from hours I've spent fixing such issues in Unraid but do I need to do a rebuild or something??? I've had so many random issues with Unraid since I started using it a couple years ago and it's gotten more and more frustrating to deal with and use.

Edit: I posted it to NC as well since I think it initiated/lead to me finding this issues. More details (like how to reproduce) are there.

Look for the support thread for that container:

This share being gone and not able to re-add the same any new shares persist without it installed, hence me asking here. I'll try asking them, as well though thanks.

There is no sign in your diagnostics that you ever had a share called 'nextcloud', so just some thoughts:

  • Have you tried booting in Safe Mode in case there is a plugin causing issues?
  • Have you tried running a check filesystem on disk1 in case there is file system level corruption causing your issue.
  • What is the Samsung SSD being used for?  It does not appear to be assigned to a pool which would be the normal use for a device like that.

The mystery deepens! I was kinda hoping someone would look at my diagnostics and say "yeah you set your shit up all wrong, nuke it from orbit." Thanks for the pointers, I hadn't, so I gave it a go.

  • Rebooted in safe mode, still no NC share. Still cannot add new shares.
  • Ran it it with the array in maintenance mode, the second time without -n flag, no remarks or errors.
  • I had intended to use it as a cache/mover or somewhere to back up configs. Haven't got a parity drive yet so haven't done anything with it at this stage.

Sure thing, here it is.
Oct  4 17:51:54 Aegis emhttpd: shcmd (59): rm '/boot/config/shares/testhare.cfg'
So it's getting the commands, but says no space left on device (and rm'ing after?)? Min size was 0 but I did see it change to a larger number when after I pressed add share?

If you want to run nextcloud on unraid, i would recommend to go with nextcloud-aio. The setup process is uncommon but once done it is very stable and backup is included. You don't have to deal with adding packets or editing config.php; nor with backup (maintenance mode, dump database,...)

I only had one problem (my fault), restored a backup and it was restarted in 10 min.

Take your time to understand the installation process, follow it (particularly for setting volumes and permissions) and keep track of the passwords needed and you will spare you some valuable time in the long term. I used this process (you can translate in your language).

I think I have tried AIO before but I'll give it another shot after I work this out. Thanks for the guide it looks very comprehensive and informative!!

If left empty it will auto set to 10% disk size, and your disk has less free space than that, you need to manually set the minimum free space before applying.

Note that new user shares will have a default 10% minimum free space assignment.

Well, I guess it is in the docs, so that's on me. Cheers, I was unaware of this behaviour as it's not mentioned on the UI when making a new share. Which at least also means "not being able to make new share" is unrelated to my original issue. I'll retry with NC and see if I can recreate making a share vanish.

v7 is more intelligent about this, it will auto-adjust based on the available space.
