Short question Disk problem.

I have a problem with a disk, shows since last night as DISABLED how do I save a mart report.

I have taken the array offline and rebooted still showing DISABLED.

Parity is valid.

Parity is valid.

It will stay disabled forever once disabled until you either re-construct it, or replace it.

how you save a smart report depends on how you are invoking it.

Are you doing it on the command line? or from one of the add-on web-interfaces?

Are you using the system console? or telnet? to log in?

Well I have replaced the disk with another. It rebuilded without errors, all disks have a green ball now.

I precleared the failed drive without problems, SMART looks ok, I took this from the myMain page in unmenu, can I save this one as a text file?

disk4.pdf

disk4 for looks fine.

Text files are preferable. Copy and paste is the easiest way to get the text. Unmenu lets you save the syslog as text. If you are using a local console then redirect the output to the flash drive and put the flash drive in a PC or Mac. These are given in the wiki article:

smartctl  -a  -d  ata  /dev/sda >/boot/smart.txt

or for windows

smartctl  -a  -d  ata  /dev/sda | todos >/boot/smart.txt

Zip the syslog if needed for posting.

Thanks  dgaschk,

I will try to post smartreports in the right format next time. Hope it won't be neccesarry though. :)

So the disk seems to be ok then? Strange that it right-balled then, might be a power glitch or something else.

Is there a difference in the way to re-enable a failed disk between 4.7 and 5.0b14? There isn't a devices page in 5.0 for instance.

The 5.0 devices page is the main page when the array is stopped.
