Help Me Get Ahead of a Problem

Featured Replies

I am not sure where to put this post as nothing is wrong right this moment, but I want to get ahead of whatever is going on before it becomes a major issue. So, my apologizes for not posting in the right place.

I am getting these errors over and over and over again:

Oct 10 10:00:07 Emily kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdj1, logical block 36, async page read Oct 10 10:00:07 Emily ntfs-3g[18755]: Failed to read vcn 0x0 from inode 5: Input/output error

Oct 10 10:05:06 Emily ntfs-3g[18755]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error

When I looked, I don't have a device named sdj1. I have attached my logs to this post.

Again, I am sorry that this post is likely in the wrong place. I was not sure where else to post it. I'd like to get ahead of this before it becomes a major issue in the middle of a school semester. Many thanks in advance.

You are likely to get better informed feedback if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread. It is always a good idea when asking questions to supply your diagnostics so we can see details of your system, how you have things configured, and the current syslog.

I will get to you asap. The tab keeps crashing when I am downloading the file to the boot drive.

I had to restart my server because it was experiencing huge cpu usage spikes and the diagnostics download would freeze up the browser tab and make it crash, and I couldn't get anything done to get you the diagnostic file. Should I delete this post and start another when it happens again?
