February 22, 201214 yr Well I took the advice on getting a new NIC http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1275962&CatId=1175 (local to me) to replace the Realtek on my MB, and... something is hosed. Put in the new card, restarted the server and started copying data to the array (TeraCopy), copied over 28gb, then it started doing a verify.. got about 6gb into it and the copy just froze... pulled up the syslog and... There may be other relevant pieces, like IRQ assignments.
February 23, 201214 yr Author and as I said, I've got 4 discs pre-clearing and will be a couple days before I can. However I did explain.... "Put in the new card, restarted the server and started copying data to the array (TeraCopy), copied over 28gb, then it started doing a verify.. got about 6gb into it and the copy just froze... pulled up the syslog and..." it ran 28gb of copy at a good speed, then when it started doing the verify it started flaking out... I know little of hardware but "kernel: e1000: eth0: e1000_clean_tx_irq: Detected Tx Unit Hang" doesn't look good, neither did "ifplugd(eth0)[1343]: Link beat lost. kernel: e1000: eth0 NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX/TX fplugd(eth0)[1343]: Link beat detected." I'll see what I can do in couple days when the pre-clears finish (no I wasn't running a pre-clear when I did this)
