February 23, 201214 yr We provide a brief description of our testing methods here (click 'Testing Methods'). At this point there's no single test that could catch every possible hardware defect, so we choose to use a suite of different tests. It is possible to run all of these tests at home, but they do take a considerable amount of time. On average, these tests can take up to two weeks to run (depending on how many drives you have to work with). We have a collection of small capacity test drives that we use along with some in-house software to speed up the burn-in process to roughly one week.
