Can't use IGPU in VMs with Unraid using Intel GVT-g

Featured Replies

I need help, please!

I spent 6 hours trying to use my Intel UHD 630 integrated GPU in Unraid.

I tried every possible solution I found on the internet, but nothing helped.

I tried following and didn't help:

set active video in Bios to Auto & IGD

setting Pre-Allocated Memory Size in Bios to 32 & 128 MB

set Memory in VM Settings to 2-4 & 6 GB
use both GVTg_V5_4&8 Versions in Intel GVT-g

Disable and Enable (Both) "PCIe ACS override" in VM Settings as well as setting "VFIO allow unsafe interrupts" to yes & no

using the IGPU with multiple OS

adding "video=efifb:off" and "modprobe.blacklist=i2c_i801,i2c_smbus" to syslinux.cfg

of course I restarted the system after every change I did

Only Solution I didn't try is using Graphics ROM BIOS which I found here:

https://github.com/patmagauran/i915ovmfPkg.

but didn't know how to use it.

I admit I'm a noob and would gladly take any kind help you offer.

I listed every setting that could lead to discovering what's the problem with my VMs.

I don't believe you allocated the GPU in the VM template. Did you add to VM via the gvt-g page?

Did you follow the guide on the guide tab?

Did you add the GPU in the VM template as I don't think it should be used as the plugin creates a mdev device in the xml. But I don't use the plugin.

Steps are

Make sure that your iGPU is not bound to VFIO and also no arguments are passed through in your syslinux.conf

Make sure that your iGPU is set to the primary graphics adapter in the BIOS

Make sure that your actually plugged in a Monitor or at least a Dummy Plug to your iGPU if you got other dedicated GPU's installed in your system

Make sure that your VM is installed with the latest Q35 machine type

Make sure that the VM is stopped

Go to the Intel-GVT-g plugin page

Select the VM that you want to usa a vGPU along with the mode and click on "Assign VM"

Go back to the VM page and start the VM

Go to the Intel Download Center: Link and download the latest driver inside your VM
(Select "Graphics" -> and download the appropriate driver on the Intel Download Center)

Install the driver and reboot

After rebooting go to your device manager and you should see two Displays (the first should be the Intel iGPU and the second one should be the VNC display adapter)
