Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Currently halfway through moving my storage over to my unraid server but if I leave it overnight it will randomly restart and will stop the file transfer. any ideas on what it could be?

If it is restarting by itself this is nearly always a hardware issue.    Most likely culprits would be PSU or RAM although other causes are known.

The syslog in the diagnostics is the RAM copy and only shows what happened since the reboot.   It could be worth enabling the syslog server to get a log that survives a reboot so we can see what happened prior to the reboot. The mirror to flash option is the easiest to set up, but if you are worried about excessive wear on the flash drive you can put your server’s address into the Remote Server field.

Hey, there was able to capture the syslog when it randomly crashed, any ideas on what might be causing it? I'm assuming memory syslog-previous

Most hardware issues don't leave anything logged, start by running memtest, or since memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.

So ive gone through done a memory test and replaced all the RAM

Switched USB ports and changed USB and I'm still have no luck, will only get about 12 - 14 hours of uptime before it freezes and crashes. Any other trouble shooting tips?

CPU, board or PSU would be the other main suspects.
