October 26, 20241 yr Hi - I'm new to Unraid so I assume I made a mistake somewhere? I setup an array with my two HDDs and an SSD and some shares (with no parity drive yet). I then heard you're not supposed to mix HDD and SSD in the array so I moved the SSD to the cache pool. This is where I noticed a problem. When I restarted I saw I was missing one of my shares and my dockers were gone. I first set this up a while ago so I must have had one of the shares on the SSD I moved to the pool because it has vanished without a trace after I moved it. Also my the top drive in my pool says btrfs so I assume it has mirrored all the SSDs and wiped all the prior data.... I didn't see a warning come up at all. Why is this? There was nothing about the disks being formatted. Can I get any of the data back?

I think I reset the config and started a new pool with one of the SSDs, which had the data - I didn't see a 'your hard drive will be formatted' at any point so I assumed the data was safe.
October 27, 20241 yr Community Expert There's only one pool with 3 devices assigned. Is that SSD assigned to this pool?

October 28, 20241 yr Community Expert I'm afraid so, assigning a device to an existing pool will delete all its data.
