One missing drive - what am I 'allowed' to do?

Featured Replies

Hoihoi,

I recently made a mistake and broke the pin of one of my drives. So currently Unraid shows one missing drive (6 hdd drives, 1 parity, 1 ssd). My new drive will arrive on Wednesday, given the size and that I want to stress test before using it, it will porbably take a week before I can use it. In the meantime, am I allowed to start the array and start some of my docker containers?

I am mostly interested in running plex, because my kid is at home and wants to watch some stuff.

Or would you generally not advice to use my server while the drive is missing?

Thanks for your help!

You can start the array as normal and the missing drive will be emulated and you will have access to all of the data. But if one more disk fails before you replace the missing disk you will lose all the data on that drive.

If you have backup you can just use your array as normal, if not and you have important files you can not lose, do a backup ASAP.
