From an unRAID perspective you gain mostly nothing from SATA III (6GB/s) ports.  Unless you are going to be using SSD's no single mechanical spinning drive will exceed SATA I (1.5GB/s) speed.

    Understood...  Just building for the future.  I like the fact it has 6 ports on board.  If there is a cheaper board with 6 ports on board I am game!
