October 28, 20241 yr Dear Community, I am installing Unraid for the first time and am therefore a total beginner in Unraid. My situation: I want to use my iGPU (AMD Ryzen 7 7700) for the Unraid host for GUI mode. I want to assign my other two cards, namely 1) RX 7600XT and 2) GTX 660, directly and individually to two different VMs later. These should therefore not be used by the GUI mode and remain "free". 1) What do I have to consider? 2) Do I have to load drivers in advance? 3) How do I make sure that the other two cards are not used? 4) Any other tips? Are there any important settings to be made in the BIOS for the graphics?
October 28, 20241 yr Community Expert Solution That should be OK since Unraid includes the AMD driver, but not the NVidia, so they should be left untouched, though there's a change that the output could still come from another GPU, so keep that in mind if you lose the display during boot.
October 28, 20241 yr Community Expert There should also be a bios option to keep igpu. Be sure to set advance bios options igpu as your default display. This way unraid will use igpu over the x16 PEG graphics card. Since your are setting up IOMMU, be sure to enable the necessary bios options. not all boards are the same. some bios options vary. be sure it not on auto and set to on. If passing nvida/amd there drivers don't need to be installed on the host unless your doing VGPU stuff on enterprise hardware... Nvdia Open source VGPU is still new and may open doors on urnaid in teh future. Since your G-Cardss are all AMD, and as JorgeB has said. Unraid kerneal has AMD driver installed that shouldn't be a issue.
