October 28, 20241 yr A few days ago unraid has started fully crashing. Becomes undetectable over the network to plex and also drive shares via windows are shown disconnected. every time this happens i go back to server and inspect the connected monitor and the console text that is seen when booting unraid is completely gone and i am shown a black screen. This issue is happening every hour or so and each time i am forced to do an unsafe shutdown to get it working again for a short period. I have done a memtest provided on unraid boot drive and it froze the computer. I then downloaded memtest from their website and used a different usb and was able to test for 9 hours with no issues. I then bought a new flash drive and restored my latest flash backup to new drive thinking it was that, and that did not fix it either. Have now just tried booting unraid into safe mode and it is still crashing. The syslogs forced being written to flash drive do not give any error or hint. Is it possible that the contents on the flash drive are corrupt somehow and the restored backup to new drive brang them over and caused the issue to persist? i cannot think of what the issue could be when i can boot memtest on a seperate usb for 9 hours and have no issues. Last event in log file is me logging into server then nothing records when the crash happens Unraid 6.12.13 AMD Ryzen 9 5900X G Skill 3600mhz 32gb MSI MAG B550M MORTAR MAX WIFI Samsung USB 3.1 Flash Drive BAR Plus 64gb (boot drive) syslog-previous.txt Edited October 29, 20241 yr by cj23_
October 29, 20241 yr Community Expert Solution There's nothing relevant in the log, make sure this has been taken care off, even if it wasn't a problem before: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/46802-faq-for-unraid-v6/?do=findComment&comment=819173
November 2, 20241 yr Author Thanks JorgeB, the issue has i believe now gone away. I believe the fix would have been in your post as i changed the PSU idle to what was suggested and disabled C states and also downclocked my ram from 3600 to 3200 but kept xmp on for the better timings. Strange that those things did not cause any issues until recently becoming an issue to crash the server every hour, but good that it has been resolved.
