Unraid OSGUI mode won't load after reboot

Featured Replies

Hello community.

I'm as green as an it can be concerning Unraid.
So I hope my ignorance will be pardoned.

I'm having a problem that I cannot figure out how to fix.

Here it is.

A while ago, I was browsing the Flash Device Settings and I noticed that I can choose to have the unraid osgui mode load by default instead of having to choose after the BIOS prompt has finished.

But since choosing that option, when it came to load unraid after seeing all the command prompts on screen and when usually in the pass the GUI load (unraid logo and user and password prompt appears) I have nothing, just the command prompt not even blinking, just static.

I have reverted to Unraid OS and I see everything at the end and get the command prompt to input credentials.

The webgui works, so I can log into unraid with any computer but I would love to have the option to logon directly to the machine with the GUI.

Why is the GUI not loading.
How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

please go to tools diagnostic and post your diagnostic.

In Theory, Since your passing your GCard. The GUi Mode requires a Gcard. You process may be a AMD chip with no iGPU. as such there is no graphics card for unraid gui to load onto.

I did check on the BIOS and I make sure that the IGC is selected.
But still no GUI.

Never even tried the GUI... I will follow along with you on this one :)

Thank you for sharing your diagnositcs...

So my theroy is correct, you need to fix your bios options... Toi tell it to use the IGPU and set the IGPU to be used by default. ATM bios is disabling the IGPU in favor of the quadro for a graphice device at boot.

syslog shows you have a amd GPu with igpu..
Oct 30 17:11:31 MAVERICK kernel: smpboot: CPU0: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics (family: 0x19, model: 0x50, stepping: 0x0)

lspci only shows the nvdia quadro at irq PCI line 10:
10:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GM206GL [Quadro M2000] [10de:1430] (rev a1)
    Subsystem: Dell GM206GL [Quadro M2000] [1028:1190]
    Kernel driver in use: nvidia
    Kernel modules: nvidia_drm, nvidia
10:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation GM206 High Definition Audio Controller [10de:0fba] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Dell GM206 High Definition Audio Controller [1028:1190]

when done corectly you should see this with command lspci:
00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Device 1234:1111 (rev 02)

as that would be the igpu that would be used in unraid GUI mode.

Enter BIOS:

Instruct the client to restart the system and press Delete or F2 (common keys for MSI boards) during the boot-up to access the BIOS menu.

Locate iGPU Settings:

Once in the BIOS, navigate to the "Settings" or "Advanced" tab, then to "Integrated Graphics Configuration" or "IGPU Configuration".

Look for an option labeled "Integrated Graphics" or "IGD Multi-Monitor" (or similar, depending on the BIOS version).

Enable the iGPU:

Set the Integrated Graphics to "Enabled" or "Auto" to activate the Ryzen 5700G’s iGPU.

If there’s an option for Primary Display, set it to IGPU to prioritize the internal graphics over the discrete GPU during boot (if needed for display purposes).

Save and Exit:

Direct the client to save the settings by pressing F10 and selecting Yes to confirm, then let the system reboot.

Verify:

Once back in the OS, verify that the iGPU is now available by checking the display settings or through the device manager on Windows/Linux equivalent.

This setup will allow the iGPU to be accessible alongside the NVIDIA Quadro card in the VM. Let me know if you need more detailed steps or troubleshooting help!

Hello everyone,
I couldn't find the time to reply to the last post, but I found something interesting.
I tried to find the options about the integrated graphic and it is the one selected.
Still no GUI after reboot.
I did launch the option "GUI safe mode (no plugins) and the GUI appeared (Unraid logo and password input).
I don't know which plugin is creating this bug or won't allow the GUI in normal mode to load.
Any ideas as to how to proceed next to debug.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Do you have any GPU related plugin installed, like the Nvida driver?

Hello,

Yes I do have a plugin (Nvidia Driver).
I did uninstalled and rebooted the server, the GUI loaded.
I reinsalled the Nvidia Driver, GUI gone.
I don't know if there's a fix for this behavior. Or do I have to contact the developer.

You can ask in the Nvidia plugin support thread, but not sure if it's possible
