Emulated drive contents missing

Featured Replies

I had a drive pool with a parity and disks in slots 1 and 2.

There was a failure in slot 2, so the contents on it became emulated. I added a new drive to the pool, but the new drive was smaller than the failed drive, so i added it to slot 3 instead of 2. As soon as the preclear on drive 3 finished, without any interaction from me, it seems the parity drive deleted/lost/stopped emulating the contents of slot 2. The interface still indicates there is a missing drive there with emulated contents.
I do not know how to get my files back. Even though the slot 3 drive is empty, I cannot remove it from the pool as then the unraid interface thinks there are too many missing devices in the pool.

Is there an obvious answer here I am missing? Are my files gone? Is there a way to view the files on an emulated drive without going through the pool to check?

4TB of data now in the the lost+found, and probably more just gone, but not a total loss. Thank you for your help!
