November 10, 20241 yr I want to know the best way to set up arrays Use case: Media, Multiple Containers, VM and Work Backup Drives: I have x2 1TB NVMe SSD that I'm thinking to use for caching and Media and I have x2 2TB SATA SSD for Work Data Back up I don't need too much storage this what i have right i will upgrade the storage in future i'm beginner to this i don't too much about ZFS n all, so please treat by like a newbie
November 11, 20241 yr Community Expert with unraid 7 moving forward, I would advise to not use the array unless mixing Spinning disks. With ZFS I would recommend a min of 3 disk with same capacity for a zfs raidz1 in your case 2x 1TB and 2x2TB I would have the 1x1TB as disk 1 and 1x1TB and parity then I would have a cache disk of 2x 2TB as btrfs mirror. this way you fulfill all of unraids d1 requirements have a mirrored 1TB array and 1 2TB cahc disk for dockers and storage... you can lose 1x1TB or 1x2TB drive and still have your data... review:
