November 15, 20241 yr I just updated to v7b4, and in order to open things, like well anything really on the internet I need access to the shares, which i haven't hade problems with before today, other then on my friends computer, but he didn't really care and don't actively use the shares as I do. When I try to gain access to the server this message pops up. When I diagnose it it looks like this. I thought it would be a credentials thing, so I went along with the ChatGPT response and tried this. Removing the old credentials did not help at all. Next is to try and reset the network I suppose. "/ Oh, yeah, the details states this btw. This has to be an unRAID problem, because it was working flawlessly for me from day one of using it up until today. Edited November 20, 20241 yr by Querzion Happened again, the same solution did not work.
November 15, 20241 yr Author Solution I shut down the array, and changed the SMB setting to share no, then share yes (workgroup), and now it works again.
November 20, 20241 yr Author I have a total access denied, from nowhere, I deleted the credentials, and stopped the array, changed to no, then yes and started the array again and it did not work. "/
November 20, 20241 yr What 'Edition' and 'Version' of Windows are you running? Ex: Windows PRO 23H2 Next thing, read the first two posts in this thread: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/110580-security-is-not-a-dirty-word-unraid-windows-1011-smb-setup/ Be sure that you have things set up as described in the notes of the first post If you really want a bit more understanding of how SMB/Samba work, download the PDF in this post. Then download "How to" #4 and "How to" #5 from the second post. Make sure you have things setup properly. IF this doesn't get things work, post back up and post your diagnostics file. (If you are running Version 24H2 , there was a change to Windows SMB regarding server signing. There is a proposed addition to Samba Extras in Unraid that may address this issue. I am interested in finding someone to test out this potential solution.)
November 22, 20241 yr Author Stop Array, Stop SMB, Start Array, Stop Array, Start SMB, Start Array. It works.
November 22, 20241 yr Let me point you to a very old post from Tom (LimeTech). It is out of date with regard to the current state of Windows security (Example: Windows not longer allows guest access to servers) and things have changed somewhat on the Unraid side (In all new installs, SMBv1 is turned off by default) but the basic concept of what is going on behind the scenes is still valid. And remember that the Windows SMB client will only allow one login to each SMB server! https://forums.unraid.net/topic/25064-user-share-problem?tab=comments#comment-228392 That is why it is recommended to use Credential Manager to handle the SMB login procedure. Because Windows will try to do it its way if you don't. Unfortunately, due to grandfathering issues, Unraid still allows 'Guest' logins. Many Unraid users have circumvented MS security efforts by hacks of Windows client SMB settings. So there exists a real mess when trying to assist folks with SMB problems...
November 30, 20241 yr Author WHAT THE F IS WRONG WITH UNRAID?!? I gain access to the shares, and when I go one folder deeper into them, this happens, with some of them. It's not moved or deleted. I changed the case-sensitive setting from Auto to force-lower.
November 30, 20241 yr Author When I open a share and go down though, it looks like this for each and every one of them. 12-1024.
November 30, 20241 yr Author It works again. "/ I have never had so much problems with the shares as I have had since switching to v7b4.
