I think this is an interesting concept.  However, if you have a large enough network of friends and family, you can create your own 'personal cloud' for free with Crashplan.  There's no built-in space limitations either - if you and your friends can all pitch in a 4 TB drive at each location, you could have a shared 4 TB cloud with no monthly fee (except electricity/bandwidth costs).  Still, for an all-in-one package, 1 TB for $10/mo isn't bad at all.
