[RESOLVED] Yet again, ASUS M4A785-M not booting after new disk install

ASUS M4A785-M

CORSAIR CMPSU-500CX

Icy Dock 5 in 3

Norco SS-500 (added today)

Cooler Master 4 in 3

14 2tb disks (one EARX (added today), two Spinpoint, three EADS, eight EARS)

I thought this was not going to be a problem after the second occurrence, I knew to connect up to a console and boot into the BIOS.

Boot device: [uSB: SanDisk Cruzer]

USB Mass Storage Device Configuration: Device #1: [sanDisk U3 Cruzer]; Emulation Type: [Forced FDD]

I've tried Emulation as Auto, and boot device as Removable Device.

Can someone PLEASE point me to a mobo that won't do this? I suppose helping me fix this again would be okay, too...

I have the M4A785TD-V I'm using in a back up box. It's running 13 WD Black 1.5TB drives thru the M/B & a BR10i.

The BIOS setup should be the same...

The Emulation is set to AUTO

Under "Boot Settings", Hard Disk Drives, I have the 1st Drive set to  USB:Kingston Reader[sanDisk U3 Cruzer for you], 2nd Drive to Disabled.

Under "Boot Settings", Boot Device Priority, I have set  1st Boot Device to USB:Kingston Reader[sanDisk U3 Cruzer for you], all other boot devices disabled.

Hope these settings help...

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!  8)

Glad they worked for you...

Happy I could help...

  • 2 years later...

added a 2TB USB external drive and rebooted only to get the blinking cursor of heck. Freakin' MB decided that the new drive needed to be the boot drive. Found this post and all is well again.
