Trying to setup a new Windows 11 VM, having problems

Featured Replies

I'm trying to setup a new Windows 11 VM, but the installation keeps failing.  When I get to the install point where setup needs to reboot the system hangs.  If I check the logs I get this error:

qxl_send_events: spice-server bug: guest stopped, ignoring

I do a force shutdown and then restart to complete installation and it won't restart.  Gives me some kind of error about the windows installation failed.

I had the same issues and others when trying to install W11 in a UnRAID VM.

The latest try the installation went well and everything appears to be working, but after aprox 60min without interacting with the VM the CPU boost to 100% and the VM screen went black. First I thought it was the updates but after running 5 days with 100% CPU. I even tried to install  W11 VM without a network connectivity. But the problem persists.

I just give up on W11 and installed a W10 VM. No problems at all with the W10 VM. Everything works normally.

I mean, I could do that.  But I really don't want to.  Support for Windows 10 will be going away soon so I would prefer to do a Windows 11 VM.

Does anyone know the solution to this problem?  I updated to latest version of Unraid and it's still doing it.
