November 18, 20241 yr I am forever have trouble with this os. Slow transfers, not being able to create new shares, main tab not showing drives and dashboard not showing real time stats. There is always problems. Had a 5tb unassigned drive take two weeks to copy because of fuse. Put true nas on the same hardware and bang everything works fast and reliable. I know you want diagnostics, but why should it be this bad. This os is getting worse and worse by the month. I have four licenses for this because of it's ease of use and flexibility. We should not have to make a major issues each time a big problem hits. I am sick and tired of wasting time on errors that had been unchecked by lime tech. I am not a beta tester and want my servers to just run and not degrade all the time. I am sure the flame baiters will be attracted to this.

Silicone lottery... unraid vs truenas Truenas only has a proper zfs implementation with vdev. in terms of how pools and hardrives should be manged. Having helped with scale and there change from core (some of there blocking was due to my workaround and edits... so i left) after bluefin fisaoc on helm... truenas is constanly breaking things they should be touch as they try to become more unraid like... in the end truenas needs to chose one k3 or k8 not both... SO yes a diag would be nice as it helps us see what is going on. if you don't have time thanks for trying therir product. as what won't work for you may work for another... You should try emailing support... As this is a public forum... not much sympathy here... having tested and ran unraid yes there quite a few things to hate. but it still better then the alternaitves... Proxmox - VMS (sometimes LXC) we will see due to help scripts and the comunity Truenas hba HD zfs sytems.. all the way... Unriad DOCKER!!!

November 18, 20241 yr Author A couple have bitten my bait. But anyway yes, I have not needed this forum so much as all the problems have been fixed by myself. But lately unraid has had alot of problems. So again I have to spend alot of time fixing them, as in which often gets fixed much later in a plugin update or os update. Just frustrating. Just like the fuse issue that popped up from time to time, if I don't work around it. As far is truenas, it might be more restrictive than unraid, but it works. Unraid is more flexible, but often things a left for a long time to fix. So for the asking I have 4 poweredge dells. r710, 2xr720s and one r730 which are all fine servers. All modded and with hba passthrough working fine. I have synologies with all almost flawless. i have many more hardware configs. Unraid should have a system that confines bad shutdowns and plugins that affect the internal workings of uraid default things from breaking. These things should not break. I appreciate limetechs work, but sometimes I need to vent. I hope you can understand.
November 18, 20241 yr Community Expert I agree. Yes, it appears that you have enterprise grade hardware and shouldn't be experiencing some of the problems mentioned above. Dell powerdges are fun sometimes.(Yeah Dell property...) So, With the 4 power edge dells. r710, 2xr720s and one r730. I learned today thanks to Jorge. That unraid doesn't support sas muti-pathing which these dells server do support. Depending on their case/options. We do want to make sure the hba/raid systems are set to "IT MODE" inatior target mode. for Unriad use in a software raid. But It apears you may have found or fixed some setting regarding that. Regardless, you seem to have the compute.... If look at alternatives. rokylinux / debian with 45drives cockpit. Or Debain OS, can be nice interface system... other wise overley sytems for web managment like webmin. I have an exampel here with debain 45 drive cockpit with casa os as a frontend. as i experiment on alot of hardware between freinds. I will gladaly help where i can. I find it weird that your using unasgned disk to interact with a disk I asuem recovery of some sort. Batery backup or power failures? i'm not sure why you are experiencing unclean shutdowns..

November 18, 20241 yr Community Expert Hey folks, CALM DOWN! It is not uncommon that "enterprise grade hardware" does not really work well with common OSs. I also once had some HP servers that gave trouble everywhere. They contain special devices like HBAs and so on and they only support certain OSs with drivers. Everything else MIGHT work but usually DOES NOT. (in my HP case I had to disable the onboard HBA and put "a real one" into the slot). And you cannot blame companies like limetech for this because companies like DELL or HP or so on do not publish full infos on their devices. They do not want anybody else to get things running on their computers, you should buy THEIR stuff and hire THEIR support. So, I can understand his upsetness, but he is on the wrong track. This will never work out. (yeah, I know, "spend a lot of money!", but its more "wasted a lot of money!")

As for the standard "hat full of assholes" in this forrum (every one has'em), I could not post a diag file because it would not function to allow downloads and thus the reason. Also updating docker containers worked, but could not see the progress, nor the main menu with no drives shown, just a black template. The dash was not updating at all,,, no temps .... no ram ... no gpu load stats. . . This plugin system as good as it is has issues from time to time. I tend to run my servers to full load a lot and obviously some asshole dwellers in here runs their gear as if it were a grannies v8 that just visited the local shopping centre 500meters down the road. .. pun intended, that lasts 30years or so, and gets an oil and creese every 3 months. And I would love you hat boys to dob on me for telling. as that would draw attention to me and they would soon realise what I am about. "It would be a good thing". So as we don't wear hat's in oz I guess we are straighter than you. Special thanks to -bmartino1- for understanding and for all your asses out there you should show respect to him and take your hats off to him. . Just a fyi if web ui is down but you at the console either ssh or screen you can type diagnostic, and it will run and save a diag file on the flash drive for logging and troubleshooting. see in docs: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/troubleshooting/diagnostics-information/ Even a boot into safe made and using tools daig will sometimes capture the previous syslog and get some data to help troubleshooting. No judgment there's alot that goes in a diag file and it's only part of the picture. Currently There is a community dev plugin that helps logs and capture other plugins. I'm not aware of any sandboxing but this may help get more logging and changelog info from current plugins:
