Plex Docker Stopped Working, then Docker stopped working, now i cant get any of it to run

Featured Replies

My system has had generally no issues running up until this point, just running the standard docker plugin, and was running the official plex docker image for a couple years with no issue.

I suddenly was not able to access the plex server webpage, so i went to the docker image and restarted it, it now doesnt start (Server Error). I went through all the other posts that said you should rebuild the docker image, but it seems like the "/mnt/user/appdata" folder is just gone?

So i kept digging and tried to restart the whole docker service, now it wont start either as it says it cant find the docker image or the above noted appdata folder. when i attempt to open the /mnt/user/system folder it just gives me an error "/bin/ls: cannot access 'system': Input/output error".

one thing I did notice is that i was able to locate the docker.img inside a different folder "/mnt/user0/system". I dont know why this is the case as i never would have changed any of the defaults from any of these setups.

Any idea on where to go from here? I have been going through every support article i could find but nothing seems to help. I had replaced my main usb drive earlier this year with a much more expensive one as unraid used to fail to reboot on updates and people online pointed towards a failing flash drive for this. So i upgraded to a FLEXXON USB DOM instead of a standard flash drive to give the most reliable possible unraid server. I havent seen any issues since but there have been no other recent changes other than me plugging a wired keyboard into my unraid server to replace the wireless one i had plugged in before.

You are likely to get better informed feedback if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread. It is always a good idea when asking questions to supply your diagnostics so we can see details of your system, how you have things configured, and the current syslog.

Cache device is dropping offline, check/replace cables and try again.

Good to know, i did a graceful shutdown of the server and replaced the SATA cable and it seems to have all come back perfectly.
That was a lot simpler than I was worrying it was gonna be. I dabble in linux here and there but i get over my head quickly once you start digging too deep with anything like permissions and authentication and things like that.

Just for my learning, how would i have known to look for this myself so i can try and self-diagnose if this starts to happen again?

There are pool monitor scrips but for btrfs or zfs, for xfs you would need to check the log, also a good clue that a pool device dropped, is if it stops showing the temp on main.
