November 20, 20241 yr Hi Community, Fantec 4drive SATA/SAS array 4 SAS disks + 1 SATA Parity (outside of array) JBOD card (one of the 2 recommended ones - cant recall the model) As stated in the topic. After over 200 successful online days, I found the machine turned off (no power outages for sure). Turning it back on I found one of the Fantec array disks marked red. Everything else working and seems OK. Full smart check is OK. I tried rebuilding on the same disk and 1 spare disk which is 100% OK - On all tries same scenario - rebuild speed slowly drops to zero, before reaching one percent, rebuilding stops, for some reason parity read check starts and autpauses at 0.2%. Per syslog and my logic, I see an I/O error - resulting in write errors (which are by my understanding not result of bad disks). Is it safe to assume this is definitely a hardware error - something fried, or is there anything to try first without dismantling and checking ? Thx in advance. tower-diagnostics-20241120-1110.zip
November 20, 20241 yr Author Thx. Will try to determine if any issues on card / array and report back.
