MACOS webui constantly non responsive

Featured Replies

Very new user.

Problem is the webui seems to become totally unresponsive, I came here from doing a google and finding this thread below.

Browser am I using is Safari.

The very weird thing is, if I remote into another local server (W11) then access the webui from that everything is fine.

The problem could also be MACOS/Safari, wondering if anyone else has or is experiencing the same thing or can point me in the right direction to troubleshoot?

Flawless WebUI performance in MacOS using Safari or Floorp (Firefox) or Chrome here for me.

MacOS 15.2, Unraid 7.0beta3 and 7.0beta4

You might want to post version numbers for MacOS and Unraid. Also try a different browser as well as Unraid in Safe mode.

Just installed FF, so far so good but the unresponsiveness is completely at random so will report back.

Assuming this is a browser issue, is there anything I should be looking for?

Safari Version 18.1.1 (20619.2.8.11.12)

MacOS 15.1.1 (24B2091)

I can't think of anything, but someone familiar with the workings of the WebUI hopefully chimes in. At the same time, MacOS has had its share of bugs, so it's possible an update to Safari fixes the issue.  For instance, the version on MacOS 15.2 (beta 2) is 18.2 (20620.1.15.1) - and beta 3 is available for update today.

One thing I learned about today was tower.local, I was up to this point using IP address only to access the server.

FireFox also ran into the same issues btw. Hoping access via tower.local makes a diff. But I will dutifully report back with my findings! :)

Got a reminder to come back and post.

Issue hasn't been resolved, for whatever reason accessing unraid from Windows using any browser is instant using MACOS any browser is sluggish and sometimes times out.

Is it possible there's a network issue on that Mac? Safari vs. Chrome vs. Firefox have nothing to do with each other and HTML/JS issues with one won't affect another just because they're running on the same system. The exception is the underlying network possibly preventing finding the resources and/or loading them slowly - proxy, firewall, DNS, routing, bandwidth.

Could well be! It's brand new though, haven't had a Mac on the LAN for a couple of years, very frustrating.

I went to make a video earlier showing the problem and it was snappy, it's so sporadic!!!!

Oh man I am still having this issue.

I know it's not an unraid thing, I know it's my Mac but I just can't get it to go away.

Doesn't matter want browser

Shares always work even when the browser won't load

accessing the gui from windows/ubuntu 'just works' ;)

I've spent hours with ChatGPT trouble shooting. This is honestly infuriating. Are there any wizards that have any random suggestions over what might be causing this?

Diagnostics *might* help.  But, personally I've got no problems with Chrome (my go to) / Safari or FF.

My new MacBook Air worked out of the box connecting to the GUI with no settings etc being modified.  Connecting via my guest network to the server's GUI via TailScale is barely perceptible that its a hair slower.

I don't know why but I had tried absolutely everything except look at my router.

I swapped out my ISP provided router for my old dusty one sitting in a box, you would never believe! All the access issues gone. It's a game changer for me. I was having to RDP into another machine just to access uR. Very happy now.

ISP Provided routers have really gone downhill lately.  Mine has a habit every once in a while of preventing every device connected via ethernet from connecting to the internet, but it will let devices connected to the Decos (the main unit is hardwired to the router) connect to the internet.   A nice weekly reboot (along with a well placed kick) seems to solve the issues for me
