March 10, 201214 yr I have a unraid server running for 6 months now and still haven't finished setting it up. 2 questions: After booting I always log in as root. Is this the right way or should I create a user for "everyday use"? How do I set-up email-notification proper? So I will get a message when a drive goes bad or with other "disasters"
March 10, 201214 yr Logging in as root is ok, make sure to set a password. HAve you allready installed UnMenu ? If so then install the ssmtp package and unread status email through package manager... Easy peasy...
March 10, 201214 yr my suggestion would be to create a new user for day to day use. I have an Admin user that basically has all the access of root user, and then I have users for all the people in my house.

March 10, 201214 yr It is extremely easy, the package tells you exactly what to fill in.. Just go for it.
March 10, 201214 yr Author It is extremely easy, the package tells you exactly what to fill in.. Just go for it. Forward "root" email to: is easy. But why do I have to give a e-mailserver (don't know what to fill-in here), Mail ID, password and Domain? Confusinggggg.
March 10, 201214 yr Ah ok, gettit. You need to enter the address od the mail server that your server will send the mail to. You are using a yahoo account so you need to fill in the smtp server name for yahoo. I googled for you and found: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465 TLS set to yes mail id: your email account (your email without the @ and the stuff after it) mail password: the password you use to access your email box at yahoo
March 10, 201214 yr Author I don't have a yahoo plus account. I tried changing it to smtp.yahoo.com:995 But when trying the command in the start of the package, it just hangs and nothing seems to happen.
March 10, 201214 yr Author Get a google account for this. Google is reliable and free. Thanks, On gmail I got it working.
