I’m using the Ugreen DXP 4800 Plus with Unraid and trying to optimize it further. Right now, I’m at 30 watts on spin-down disks, but I’m curious if anyone has gotten it lower. Under load I am on 41-45 watts. 

 

Here’s what I’m looking for:

• Power Tips: How do you manage power draw? Any BIOS tweaks or plugin settings to save more energy?

• Plugins: I’ve added AutoFan. What else do you recommend for this hardware?

• Settings: What’s working for you to balance efficiency and performance?

 

Any advice or tweaks would be great. Let me know what’s worked for you!

Mine's ~23-25W (UPS reading) when all of the drives are spun down(SSD and Coral USB are still running with Frigate), but I don't think there's anything really that I did. I do use AutoFan and powertop --auto and set the power mode to best efficiency. 

The only BIOS setting I made was to disable the 10g NIC, but I'm not sure if that even made a power difference.

So as a quite new unraid user, the efficiency setting you set in BIOS or with a plugin?

 

Would you provide me the simpel steps of how you setup powertop? I am quite new to unraid and glad that i now understand dockercontainers, but powertop, as I read before in forums is working over the command line where I am a little hesitant.

Powermode is set using the settings page of UnRaid. I honestly didn't check all 3 modes.

 

powertop --auto-tune can be added to your go file under /boot/config/

 

You can first run it by logging into console and running it on the command line to see if it helps. If it does, add it to your go file.

Hi all, I apologize for reviving a very old thread, but I'm hoping to connect with more DXP4800 plus owners to get some tips and compare our results. I have tried adjusting the fans with an auto fan plugin, and I think I got that working on the HDD bays, but I'm not sure how to set that up for the CPU fan.

I have also been looking at the CPU temps I see on my dashboard, and I'm a little worried about those, but I might be looking at the wrong thing. In my System Temp plugin settings I have processor set to coretemp - cpu temp. I haven't been sure which one is the mainboard to look at that.

Anyways, looking at this, I see my system idling around 40-50 C. When under load like downloading and unpacking, it will shoot up to 90-100C. It doesn't usually go above 100C, and it jumps around quite a bit by +/- 10C. As soon as the load goes away, the temp goes down to the 70s basically immediately. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior, and I'm worried the temps are getting too high. Everything seems to be working fine, but those figures seem high.

I see similar behavior on CPU temps even after re-pasting.

CPU fan is pwm2 I believe, but I've turned it off and just let BIOS control it.
