Local Access to Dockers on Tunneled Access VPN

Featured Replies

Unraid Version: 6.11.5

I'm trying to route some Docker containers' internet traffic through a commercial Wireguard VPN provider, while still retaining access to those containers at the LAN IP of the Unraid machine. I'm using the built in Wireguard functionality in Unraid with the setting "VPN tunneled access for docker". I had this working at one point, and then I made a change to another VPN connection and broke the "access to docker containers via the LAN IP" part of it. I have since deleted all my VPN configurations in Unraid and re-added only the commercial VPN, but this hasn't resolved the problem.

Currently to test this, I:

1. Import the commercial wireguard config and enable the tunnel

2. Change my Speedtest docker to use the new interface - wg0

3. Try to connect to the speedtest docker in my browser at http://[local unraid ip]:5432

This just hangs, and eventually times out.

- I can connect to other docker containers on this Unraid host.

- I can connect to the speedtest docker container while on the Unraid host by running `curl http://[local unraid ip]:5432`

- I can shell into the speedtest container with `docker exec -it speedtest-tracker /bin/bash` and `curl ifconfig.me` and that works and shows the expected VPN address

I've tried looking at the IP tables because my guess is that some rule got messed up, but networking is not my area of expertise so I haven't made much sense of it.

At this point I'm pretty stuck, so even any suggestions about what to investigate would be appreciated.
