Unraid and containers hang. Cannot SSH into host. Web UI fails. Ping works

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Per above. Unraid will crash roughly once to twice a month.

  • The Unraid web UI won't load
  • SSH to unraid fails, just hangs
  • I have one VM running, which also becomes completely unresponsive
  • Docker containers won't respond on HTTP(S) ports.

I'm on version 7.0.0-beta.4 2024-10-2, the same was occurring on version 6 latest stable. One thing I am suspecting as cause is a fault with disk 2, which a few weeks back was exhibiting extremely slow read speeds, of a few mb/s. That problem has since gone.. I think re-seating the cable helped, though I'm unsure. It passes SMART tests.

Please help. 🙏

Server is running out of memory, Frigate appears to be the culprit, limit its RAM usage or check its config.

That was a quick response, thanks @JorgeB.  I'm surprised it's using so much memory, I thought 32G would suffice. I've added --memory=16G  as an extra parameter. Hope it works. Thanks for your help.

Hello all,

Let me start by saying thank you for any assistance received.

I know that JorgeB has helped me, and I appreciate it.

On to my failures.

I have a couple of systems running Unraid for quite a while. My home machine is quite large and works well most of the time. Lately, it has started freezing up due to CPU and memory overflow. I pulled a diagnostic today, and it showed CPU and RAM @ 100%. Attached.

Tomorrow, I'll replace the MB and RAM while retaining the drives.

I thought that I had a random webpage open to my server from one of my smart TVs, as the overload mostly happened at night, but today, it happened without anyone in my house.

Please look at my diagnostic and let me know what I did wrong this time. I am 100% confident that the issue was caused by operator malfunction.

Thank you again.

Chas

Next time, please start your own thread.

You are also having OOM, in your case it was caused by dotnet, so see if you find can find the container that uses that.

Sorry about that!
