March 14, 201214 yr [uPDATE] well decided to try the new NIC before anything else... went to CompUSA and picked up a ULTRA PCI-E card using the JMicron JMC250 chip. For $14 wasn't gonna complain (and faster than Amazon in this case). Network going away could explain the APPARENT freezup (couldn't Telnet in either). Installed, no complaints on startup. Copied a few gigs over (TerraCopy) and it's MUCH faster, before was getting 25-28mb/s on write, 30-34mb/s on read. With this... 34-39mb/s on write, 42-50(!)mb/s on read... let this cook a few days and then move on to replacing something else if it's still giving me the issue. New PS in the box over here, but not changing that much at once. [bEFORE] Well this is getting annoying... for second time in three days, the server just 'went away'... didn't respond to the web interface, console frozen (screen was blank, couldn't get it back up) the annoying thing is it was just idle... drives spun down, no activity. Only way to get it back was hit the reset button and it's merrily doing a parity check. I have a new Power supply coming but I'm confused.. log from startup attached, anyone see anything obvious? March 14, 201214 yr You say that the CPU was unlocked to a X4 4-core? Still the syslog only shows 3 CPUs. Maybe switch off this unlocking thing? I don't know if the LAN chip on the MB is supported on ur version of unraid. Is it Realtek 8111E? Not a good choice for 4.7.

Is it Realtek 8111E? Not a good choice for 4.7. I did the swapout of the onboard lan for an intel card, but it was wonky, so I went back to the mb lan.. I think I'll look for another one tonight.

I saw 2 NICs in the syslog: an Intel/Broadcom and a Realtek one. Was the onboard NIC not disabled? The Realtek 8111E probably ain't gonna work very well in unraid 4.7.

The Realtek is on the MB, if there is a second NIC in there it's news to me.. all slots in the MB are empty right now.
