March 14, 201214 yr I ordered the parts to upgrade my WHS server to a more unRaid friendly setup, and I hope to get it up and running next week. My question is, should I bother buying the two unRaid license keys as opposed to just one? I'll be running my unRaid server out of a NORCO case which is only half full of disks now. Once I free up space used by file duplication, I suspect I'll only be using four or five of the installed disks. So I've got plenty of space for the foreseeable future. Am I missing something obvious? Is there any need for the extra license in my case?
March 14, 201214 yr If you can afford it, do it. Keep regular backups of your flash drive, and if one dies you have another license to instantly move to.
March 14, 201214 yr Author That makes sense. I've never had a flash drive fail (aside from abuse), but that doesn't mean it won't happen I understand that the ID's are bound to a specific flash drive, but if I have a failure will Lime-Tech allow me to replace that key, or do I just have to buy another license to replace it?
March 14, 201214 yr 2 keys are a luxury but if you swing it you should. Keys do fail at the worst time.
March 14, 201214 yr I'm sure Limetech will assist you if a key fails, but keep in mind during that period you will not have a productive server.
March 18, 201214 yr I asked myself this same question. I only needed one pro key at the time. But i am sucker for a good deal.. so i bought two "just in case" or to give one to my dad to convert his WHS1 to unraid. It was not even a month or two later that i built a second unraid server from spare parts and put that key to use (I then upgraded it to a new virtual unraid). Now I can use yest another plus key for my third unraid box... and my backup server is about 80% full with 18 drives in it... so i might need a 4th in a few months. yes i suffer from UCD.. and digital hording.
