November 30, 20241 yr I am moving to new hardware but while everything else has gone smoothly, Plex is posing a challenge. Before shutting down the old machine I removed all the references to Nvidia from my Plex configuration... or thought I did. The new hardware has a much more recent intel CPU and I planned to use Quicksync instead of my old Titan XP. I was part way through adding the DRI settings etc for the Intel GPU and clicked Apply... shortly thereafter Plex was no longer visible in my Docker list. It's still there as an orphaned container if I switch to Advanced view. In searching for Plex vanishing I found this thread so attempted to reinstall from Previous Apps. There are no references to Nvidia anywhere on the configuration page this presents, but if I press Apply it attempts and fails to boot the container, concluding with the following: Quote --device='/dev/dri/' --runtime=nvidia 'plexinc/pms-docker' docker: Error response from daemon: unknown or invalid runtime name: nvidia. See 'docker run --help'. The command failed. For what it's worth... I cannot plug the video card into this system as there's no longer a slot for a GPU to plug in with my new hardware arrangement. I don't know where it's pulling the "--runtime=nvidia" from. I tried re-adding and then removing this value from the config but it didn't make any difference. Any efforts to google for this has proven basically impossible as all the search terms show up in people trying to make nvidia transcode work, which is pretty much the opposite of helpful to me. Can anyone advise how I can clean this up enough to start? junction-diagnostics-20241130-1659.zip
November 30, 20241 yr Author Solution well... derp. I found this thread which mentioned the advanced toggle in the settings, and I made the same mistake as that thread's OP. Enabled Advanced View in the Plex settings page and I then had the ability to remove --runtime=nvidia from my configuration. Plex has now started successfully. Leaving this here in-case it's useful to someone in future.
