November 30, 20241 yr So I have 5 SAS Drive in my system currently, 4 of them that's in a array seems to spin down without any issue, but my issue is that I've leave a single drive which I was planning to use as backups that won't spin down. since I won't be around server for almost a year, is there a proper way to have drives in the server that's deactivated until required? Also I did try to click the Spun down on the unassigned drive which sadly doesn't seems work. (Their both in a Array unlike sde which is currently unassigned). Edited November 30, 20241 yr by LunarstarPony
December 1, 20241 yr Community Expert teh spin down function is esental the disk in idle / sleep a unasgned disk that is not in a pool or array will not triger a spin down as it is already in a idel state untill soemthign is read/wrting to it. It however being a unasgned disk will not gain and performace/power boost and there sin't much there when it is a unasgned disk. ths can be done via web ui

And 2 of the drives that's in the array is the exact same model, so there shouldn't be any issue with drives as well.
December 1, 20241 yr Community Expert SAS spin down is not supported by stock Unraid, you can try the plugin.
