[solved] Boot drive damaged (possibly) [6.12.11]

Featured Replies

Hey, I'd really appreciate some guidance here, as I'm a total noob at this.

My UNRAID server was running great for like 6 months. Today I noticed that some services hosted on docker containers do not work, however other services also on dockers were running fine (game servers). After logging in to check whats up, whole "Docker" tab is empty - not showing ANY containers.

I reboot the server and it is holding boot up at the enclosed messages. Figured out that the boot USB drive (dev 'sda' I think) might be the problem, took it out and cloned partition. During cloning in DiskGenius got 4 similar following errors: "Read Sector Error! Disk: RD2:USBSanDisk3.2Gen1(29GB) From Sector: 299264. 131072 Sector(s) Total. (Err:23 Data error (CRC).)"

Soo... what do I do now?

I have no idea how to proceed from this point. Get another USB drive and clone this one to the new one? But there are errors already? Fresh install on new drive? but what about the license and accessing existing server? Try to repair bad sectors first? Please help.

You must always have a current backup of flash.

Can you copy the 'config' folder from the flash drive?   That has all your settings and licence key.

Yes, I have it copied.

While copying, it got stuck on "bzfirmware" file, but it appears that all folders are okay (I hope). There is A LOT of bad sectors (scanning now with DiskGenius)

If you have the config folder you can recreate a new flash drive, then restore that and transfer the license.

I was able to to use config folder to transfer everything to the new USB boot drive. Thanks everyone for helping.
