Server not working (cannot reach the GUI) after update to 6.12.14 (SOLVED, realtek drivers issue)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I updated to the 6.12.14 yesterday and, after reboot, the GUI did not load properly, only the top menu was loading. I went to sleep then and hoped it needed some more time to load. This morning I could access the GUI anymore, and still can't. The server is working, hardware is fine and boots correctly. Then Unraid boots "fine" until when it asks for login and the IP of the server is correct (I attached a picture of the screen with unraid booting). Is the USB stick corrupted somehow? I have no idea how to proceed now.

If the solution is to just get the USB back to before the update, that would be very nice.

I guess I learned my lesson to not update the server when it works, but it should not be like this, either the server works or it is up to date. Not the first time that an update breaks something, this is by far the worse though.

Thanks!

I will post the diagnostic when I get some time to operate directly to the server, I have the realtek drivers installed. Is there an easy way to revert back from before the update?

I am in the same situation. I tried to do a roll back, but it did not work for me. I have zero network access to the server. RealTek drivers.

Easiest way would be to boot using the GUI mode and use it to uninstall the plugin, then reboot.

Thanks a lot, that solved it. Booted into the GUI mode and uninstalled the realtek drivers plugin, after a reboot everything is back to normal. Much easier than expected and I learned about the GUI option when directly accessing the server. Never checked too well when booting up. The one thing was that it was trying to connect to https://localhost and did not work, changing to http worked fine.

Are we supposed to reinstall the drivers plugin after we get the gui back?

should I replace the onboard nic with something over PCIe?

For me, unraid worked fine before installing the drivers and, now, works fine also without the drivers so I'm not really sure if they are needed.

I have a PCIe nic in the server but it does not work, it is also realtek and I never managed to make unraid to work with it.

Might be worth to get an Intel based nic eventually to see if that solves it.

I would recommend keeping the stock driver, or it may cause the same issues.

Several years with Unraid an no issues when upgrading, but after upgrading to 6.12.14 I have access GUI and no containers or VM´s boot. SSH works, tried to boot to GUI but no success.

Ended up recreating USB, but no my usb shows up as "blacklisted". This USB have been used for several years. I also tested another USB I have laying around with same result.

Any suggestions how to solve this? Do I need to get a new USB, and if that's the case which one should I buy?

I was able to get around this, I just needed to restart Unraid USB creator.

But the big problem is that I Unraid still doesn´t work after downgrading. I did create a new USB with version 6.12.13 and copied the config directory from old USB to new USB.

Does it boot and you cannot access the GUI, or it doesn't boot?

I updated it to 6.12.14. I ran into the same issue. I boot my server using a different nic. I then removed the Realtek driver. Then I rebooted using a 2.5 gig card., but I couldn't ping the server. I reinstalled the Realtek drivers and rebooted them, but I still couldn't ping the server. Is there an updated Realtek driver to fix this problem?

The stock Realtek driver should work, please post the diagnostics.
