December 5, 20241 yr All, I've searched the forums and seen a number of discussions on the 'disk disabled, contents emulated' issue. I took the array off line and put it in maintenance mode then ran a scan. I was wondering if someone with more knowledge could confirm that the disk now looks OK and could be rebuilt onto itself as per the following doc:- Storage Management | Unraid Docs Or whether I have other/ bigger issues. I've attached the smart diags and general diags file Many thanks for any assistance in advance. Regards Steve unraid-diagnostics-20241205-1603.zip unraid-smart-20241205-1516.zip
December 5, 20241 yr Community Expert It's logged as a disk error, and there are pending sectors, run an extended SMART test, but most likely the disk needs to be replaced.
December 5, 20241 yr Author Thanks JorgeB. I've initiated a SMART test, but it's going to take some time (20% has taken a few hours). In the meantime I've ordered a replacement on the back of your advice, just to be safe. The drive is actually still under warranty, so may be able to get a replacement for spare. I obviously don't want to risk waiting for them to process. You don't happen to know how rigorous Seagate are when it comes to claims or whether anything in the SMART tests would automatically flag them to void warranty (e.g. Over temp). Thanks again for the help and I'll post teh SMARt results once completed. Regards Steve
December 6, 20241 yr Author The SMART test finally completed with 'read failure'. I've attached the downloaded report but to my untrained eye I don't see much different. Regards Steve unraid-smart-20241205-1827 (1).zip
December 6, 20241 yr Community Expert Solution SMART test failing means the disk needs to be replaced.
