Hi thanks for your message!  I wondered that, but fairly sure it's capital - I have also tried both though.  Unless it wants the name of the /mnt/cache path which is lowercase cache.  But I get the same message with both

 

 

And yes, the directory exists, I think I had to make it.

 

Just get this logged every time it tries to run still:

I did get this logged once a couple of hours ago:

But that's the only cache-mover entry I've ever seen. 

 

For clarity should it be cache or Cache in the settings? 

 

The name is Cache but the mount point is cache

 

That's the only thing I can remember changing oh and the media player settings I re-entered around that time.

Thought I'd check the processes and found cache_mover running a couple of times and an rsync which looked like it was copying my downloads folder (currently a couple hundred gig) to the cache...  Answers some other strange goings on I've had recently.

 

Downloads is not in my TV or Films directory... Maybe one of the downloads has the word TV in it?  Would that cause the entire download directory to then rsync to the cache...?

 

Can I set the source folders to /media/Films /media/TV instead of Films TV ?

 

Weird there is no logging though.

depends how your Downloads are processed, if (and only then) your file is not in its own folder, then yes, this plugin does copy the folder where the active file is located.

 

to avoid this, either specify the subfolders clearer (/TV /Filme /whatever), or also yes

weirdly I've seen a couple of people run it manually and get some quite detailed looking output... I just get this:

 

It takes a couple of minutes so it's like it's doing something in the background...

and you have to set your values, nothing inserted in cron jobs ... so no automatically runs ...

Honestly, I have no idea what I did to fix the problem. I had .mkv that was giving a breaking error, so I tried .mkv again, but that didn’t work. Then, I tried .mkv, .mp4, .ts, and for some reason, that worked. After that, I tried .mkv again, and it stopped working, giving the breaking error again. So, I typed .mkv in another window, copied it, and pasted it into the media file types. Now, I’m no longer getting the breaking error.

 

Is there a way to save the settings or back up the config so I can restore them after uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin? I found another issue after adding this plugin, and I need to remove it temporarily to see if it's causing the problem.

Thanks a lot for your help! I found the problem, and it was not the plugin. It seems like you can only see the active streams for files that are on the array, and you’re unable to see the ones that are in the cache.

yep, plugin doesnt look for "unknown" files on cache as they are not in scope for this plugin

 

if you are in media server only mode, i reverse lookup on /mnt/disk* and /mnt/disks/* (which are all array disks and all uad disks),

if the files are there and NOT on the given pool (cache) disk, plugin copy file to there and switch live the access to there.

 

if there is no file on /mnt/disk* ... there is nothing todo for the plugin

Cache mover strange behavior.

 

The mover works, copy from array to the cache when Plex run the file.  If I start later plex with a alredy transvered file, the array disk still start. I remeber with one of the former verisons it worked well.

there is no difference as this cant be controlled by the plugin. Requirements

 

pool device (puffer in your case) is part of your FUSE mount (either Share setup or mergerfs setup) as 1st device and plex mount is corresponding to this FUSE mount

 

so may a screen from your Share setting/s where your media resides and how you setup your media path in plex.

 

Background, when its Standard, Plex only uses as sample

 

/mnt/user/Media/...

 

when a file resides now on

 

/mnt/puffer/Media/whatever/file1.mkv << copy created by this plugin

/mnt/disk2/Media/whatever/file1.mkv

 

Plex will still only see 1 file as (as Unraid serves it via fuse or mergerfs)

now it (should) always open 1st the "cached" file/s

 

so all after copy and switch is (and always been) out of scope of this plugin, im just "abusing" the behaviour of a FUSE system  thats also why i recommend mergerfs in "non standard" setups as it also builds an "Share" like this.
