The issue is: I see no logs on the cache-mover settings page. nothing in the cache mover log tab and nothing in the cache mover lists tab either. On my first install i saw the gdb issue there.

you should enable logging

the logs inside the plugin are just filtered from syslog

Hi!

I have a small issue with the cache mover plugin.

Everything works well, but after copy the folder to the nvme driver, the owner is set to "root" with read/write for the owner and the rest is set to read only.

This give me some issues when Sonarr or Radarr wants to add a new folder for another season our wants to upgrade the file.

Since the owner is not set to nobody and does not have read/write rights, i get some permission issues.

Is there a option available to set the owner rights to nobody and read/write rights?

the used rsync command is by default to keep priviledges as the source ... (your array files)

you can also modify it if wanted at your own risk ;) (at the bottom from the settings page)

but may try the following in unraid terminal

find /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/cache-mover/scripts -type f -exec sed -i '/^#!.*\/bin\/bash$/a umask 000' {} +

new folders should be then 777, let me know if that solves your issue so i ll implement it by default.

Hi @alturismo ,

i can confirm that command fixed the issue ❤️

Hi alturismo! Thank you for the ASPM Helper plugin.

Is there any chance we can get more rows? I have 15 ASPM devices that I'd like to enable at startup, and the current limit is 10.

Hello!

If a device supports L0sL1 (which I have to manually force through ASPM Helper), is it better to:

  1. Force L1? In my testing this allows my system to reach 80% C6.

  2. Force L0sL1? In my testing this allows the system to reach 60% C3, 25% C6.

L1 is clearly superior at complete idle. But when the server is experiencing light load (seeding torrents, Plex every once in a while, etc), I can't help but think forcing L1 will prevent standby that could have been achieved with L0s.

L1 feels like "all or nothing", while L0sL1 feels like it keeps the door open for standby during lighter loads which wouldn't reach L1. Or maybe, if it can't reach L1 due to activity, it can't reach L0s either? I can't really simulate seeding/daily use in a repeated manner, hence why I ask here.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

actually i wouldnt only consider this

1/ is it stable in all terms in the setup

2/ what is the real power consumption compared to each other

then decide what is the best case for you

sample stability, i once stumbled over a L0sL1 set in my onboard NIC, i realised some day my Live TV streams (SatIP Server) where distorted, so i checked Satellite Position, wiring, all kinda mess ... (1/2 day ...) until i remembered i changed my NIC's aspm mode, which was the cause of all this ...

while transfer rates, latency was all fine, it just messed up my live streams ... yes, a edge case but a nice sample.

this just as sample about "stability" and so on, so, put all together and then look whats the best case for you, in your upper sample i rather would take L1 only as the Server most likely will be more in idle ... but thats up to you.

this is expanding alot ;) its a copy paste job, i ll look into it once i look at the php changes for mobile UI.

for now, copy as sample this file to your system, rename it ...)

/usr/local/emhttp/plugins/aspm-helper/scripts/aspm1.sh

change the following parts inside for one of your aspm rows

ENDPOINT="$aspm_1_head"

ROOT_COMPLEX="$aspm_1_root"

ASPM_SETTING="$aspm_1_mode"

make it executable (chmod +x), user scripts, run on array start ...

copy the file for each aspm run, expand the user script ...

Thank you very much for the instructions.

I was able to create autostarts for my 5 remaining devices using the User Scripts plugin. Much appreciated.

Thanks alturismo for your pointers.

is it stable in all terms in the setup

L0s L1 turned out to be unstable (judging by the logs). I suspect this is because the PCIe root, according to ASPM Helper and my BIOS settings, only supports L1. So not only does L1 lower power consumption by around 8W compared to L0s L1, it is also more stable.

What enabling L0s L1 through ASPM Helper causes

I do have another question: L1 has been stable so far in the sense that all my apps work, and (as far as I can see) I never lose connection. But in the logs I now see the same errors I saw with L0s L1, just much less frequent. Is it safe to leave L1 enabled in ASPM Helper, or is it a sign I should live with no ASPM on that device, or replace it with a NIC that natively supports ASPM?

For context, I get this error every hour or two, instead of hundreds of times per second with L0s L1.

Here is a text copy for your convenience. The root and device addresses match the device I force enabled L1 to. 05:00.0 is my TEG-10GECSFP 10Gbe SFP+ NIC. 00:1c.4 is the PCIe root it is connected to.

NIC error:

Root error (which the NIC is connected to):

Thanks again for your time.

well, if it stays stable, if your file transfers are all fine, if you checked file integrity, if ... i may would live with it when its a ~ 8+ Watt change ;)

and disable the AER reporting then, either in BIOS or as Kernel Parameter (pci=noaer) or syslog filter or ..., but keep in mind if you see issues to remember and howto enable it again ;)

Good idea for file integrity, I didn't think about that!

I'm hoping this works, because my TEG-10GECSFP is the only 10Gbe SFP+ NIC (that isn't a 130€ Intel X710) which "supports" ASPM where I live. If I can't get it to work stable, I guess I'll just switch back to RJ45.

disable the AER reporting then

I'm firmly in the camp of scrolling down in the log, rather than potentially missing something important ha ha

Thanks for your help!

Regarding cache-mover, some help please. I have two problems:

1) I don't see anything in cache-mover-log and cache cache-mover-lists, despite having enabled unraid notify and syslog, and despite seeing the cache populated.

2) If I try to introduce a second server rewrite directory, I get the binary operator expected error.

Any suggestions for the these problems?

Here is my config:

root@myserver:~# cat /boot/config/plugins/cache-mover/cachemoversettings

subfolders="Series Movies"

filetypes=".mkv .mp4"

do these files exist ? if not, touch ... to create empty ones.

just put something in there even if not wanted, like "abcdefg" < known issue here

you can simplify this to 1 entry, "/data:/mnt/user"

Yes, target pool is cache. The problem was I created the directory but did not touch the files (I thought they would be auto-created). Touched them and now logs appear normally. Thanks!

Regarding the path rewrite, the simplification "/data:/mnt/user" did not work out of the box. I had to change the "Movies Series" (folder names in host) to "movies tvshows" (which is how jelly knows them). Now everything looks ok.

Thanks for the reply, great plugin !

absolutely correct, sorry, didnt recognized the case sense ... good catch and glad you figured it.

The cache mover plugin is working well for me to move files to cache when being watched in Plex, but nothing ever hits the threshold for being removed, they're always "still in range" and never hit 24 hours.

I've looked back at when people have mentioned the same issue here, but can't find a solution. I've turned off folder caching just in case it was that. What else should I be checking?

either find the service, app, ... which does access / modify the files.

or may asked, is it a zfs disk ?

Hello, I am confused, I just noticed that I have simple mover and cache mover? Which one to use?))) I believe cache mover is most recent one

Also I am getting errors like too many arguments - maybe this will better option (too add ""?) Not an expert, just AI advice

### update rewrites once (can be removed sometime)

if [[ -n "$rewrite_source" && -n "$rewrite_host" ]]; then

sed -i "s|^rewrite_source=.*|rewrite_source=\"${rewrite_source}:${rewrite_host}\"|g" /boot/config/plugins/cache-mover/cachemoversettings

sed -i 's|^rewrite_host=.*||g' /boot/config/plugins/cache-mover/cachemoversettings

sed -i '/^$/d' /boot/config/plugins/cache-mover/cachemoversettings

echo "updated rewrites once"

its 2 different plugins ;)

cache mover > purpose Media File Caching from array (hdd) to cache (ssd)

simple mover > purpose Mover Options, sort like mover tuning,

so simple mover is a complete different plugin, there was a lack of dev with mover tuning but meanwhile its back in development and not really needed anymore.

this is when updating from an older version to a newer version before the Mediaserver Implementation was there, shouldnt harm at all.

the better question is, where and when are you getting thee errors ?

My cache is ZFS, and my array is xfs

like I thought ... seems zfs with its self checking, healing, ... modify access time on your system.

may when I consider a different approach to fetch last access ... currently I have no option therefore.

For media server mode, could it use Plex or Tautulli to check if the media has been watched that way? That could work well.

Also: I've manually deleted some large TV show folders from my cache that weren't being moved. How can I remove them from the cached mover list so they aren't checked any more?
