Also: I've manually deleted some large TV show folders from my cache that weren't being moved. How can I remove them from the cached mover list so they aren't checked any more?

they shouldnt appear anymore if the directory is gone from cache (2nd round cleaner),

manually, by deleting the line from your list, defined in cache mover settings (blueprint /mnt/user/system/mover/...)

  • ok, never thought of that (yet)   noted, and yes, no deal breaker ... just have to think about how to tag either Docker or VM ... will leave a note here.   thanks for the feedback

  • Yes , only unbinding than reboot makes the gpu free than I attach it to VM and than it works for VM only and cannot be used for docker containers . To make it work for docker container i have to bind

its 2 different plugins ;)

cache mover > purpose Media File Caching from array (hdd) to cache (ssd)

simple mover > purpose Mover Options, sort like mover tuning,

so simple mover is a complete different plugin, there was a lack of dev with mover tuning but meanwhile its back in development and not really needed anymore.

this is when updating from an older version to a newer version before the Mediaserver Implementation was there, shouldnt harm at all.

the better question is, where and when are you getting thee errors ?

I guess this is due to my configuration, even with ai can't figure out how to configure it, soon I will give up xD

🤣

well, may post your config here (without media server token), and may show me where the error pops up or when

Hi,

I tried to setup cache mover but it does nothing but running the crontabs.
In Unraid I can access /mnt/remotes/media and I see my directory "Videos"

In Plex I have to access /data to see the directory "Videos"

directory /cached doesn't exist (where should it be?)

the two profcessing and mover tuning file path or the files didn't exist as well, I created the necessary directory and touched the files.

in short @an3k , /mnt/remotes/... currently not supported like described in discord.

For media server mode, could it use Plex or Tautulli to check if the media has been watched that way? That could work well.

just as note, im testing now a media Server lookup mode instead "last access" from filesystem.

got the proper code for plex now here in testing stage, if its working fine, i ll add emby and jelly mode therefore too.

that should eliminate the zfs, cache dirs, ... issues when externals are modifying files and we go for real playback in media server mode ... but wont help when using standard mode without getting data from mediaservers.

so, yes, i ll add the mediaserver lookup, but no, wont build own database when last played state happened, as its main purpose is a mediaserver anyhow that should fit most usecases.

Amazing! Happy to test when it's ready.

cache mover want to cache the root.

cache mover is following the Standards by default and copy the Folder where the file resides

1/ movie sample > ../movie folder/movie.mkv

2/ show sample > ../Showname/Season NN/episode01.mkv

so, the played movie folder or the season folder is copied over, if there is more (what is root in your terms) there is something wrong.

in MSM mode rewrites are obsolet as we speak about direct access anyway, and as your setup is a 1:1 relation it wouldnt mind anyway, so you can blank those settings anyhow, just for Media Servers without 1:1 mapping, like in the description.

may some info what you mean exactly

Thanks for comments. After blanking rewrites, the issue gone.

Any plans for a cache maximum size as well as expiring by age? (e.g. reducing age thresholds once cache is above a fixed size, or deleting oldest until cache is below minimum size)

sorry, but this would be a mix of simple mover (mover tuning) and Media caching ;)

so nope, not really planned.

what will be included in next release

  • min free space on cache

  • using mediaservers last playback instead FS last access (as zfs is really disturbing here, i knew its not my FS ...)

  • multi Media Server Mode

    • here im still on investigating howto handle last played states and cleanup ...
i really wouldnt like to build sep. lists for each Media Server
currently it will end into a race condition when multiply Mediaservers are included

  • more flexible source setup, so also zfs pools (again) are handled

but as mentioned, no extra free space options ...

my path for the container is "/data:/mnt/user/media/" in jellyfin its "/mnt/user/media/" I have tried with and without the "/" at the end of media.

my structure is ment->user->media>torrents/library

torrents hold my downloads

library my files from sooner and radarr

I feel its something so obvious but I can't see it lol.

would need some more context

1/ what is your issue actually

2/ how does your overall setup look in terms of

-- cache, array setup

-- jellyfin mount setup

-- plugin setup

then i may could say something about it ;)

Thanks for the reply.

ok, it doesnt respect the excluded folder /torrents, your setup is looking fine as far as i can tell.

i look into that, what wonders me as you are in media server only mode (which is the recommended way)

the plugin is only triggereing watching content from your jelly server, in my world, there shouldnt be any processed files anymore in your torrent dir when watching media from jelly, are you may linking files instead moving ?

background, plugin checks if you are watching media, if its part of movies or tv, it checks the real file location, /mnt/disk1, 2, 3, ... and then creates a copy to your pool ssd, /mnt/downloadcache/... then changing the file descriptor to the new location.

one more question, is your pool "downloadcache" also part of your /mnt/user/media Share ?

  1. Are you talking about hard links. Like when the media fully downloads? In sonar and radar I did have to add an extra perimeter under media management /data/library/tv similar to the movies side. could this be the reason? I have hard links enabled but not sure if this added folder has messed up things with only just keeping one file. Is there only supposed to be one file that is moved in the library folder that qbittorent also references when seeding? Maybe I don’t understand the question sorry

  2. Downloadcache is my second cache pool. How can I tell if it’s under the same shares. When I add the directors to all the apps I use “user” in the file path, so I assume the answer is yes. I don’t point it to the cache pool it’s user then to the media folder etc

ok, sounds like you are using hard links and not moving after the job is done, you can check if you have like a "double" folder view, inside /torrents and inside /library
never checked on this situation as the usecase here is totally obscure using hardlinks, makes only sense when you always already download to hard disk

show a screen from your Share setting page for /media, what is primary and what is secondary

about the hard link situation, may even shouldnt bother but woul dmake sense about your cache mover behaviour ;)

ok, sounds like you are using hard links and not moving after the job is done, you can check if you have like a "double" folder view, inside /torrents and inside /library
never checked on this situation as the usecase here is totally obscure using hardlinks, makes only sense when you always already download to hard disk

show a screen from your Share setting page for /media, what is primary and what is secondary

about the hard link situation, may even shouldnt bother but woul dmake sense about your cache mover behaviour ;)

I think it maybe the hardlink situation in qbtotrent I have it as below. Which is probably why I had to make an additional folder in sonar and radar.

Qbittorent /mnt/user/media/torrents/

Sonar /mnt/user/media/

I think they should both point to media and would maybe fix this as I think it’s copying files and not creating that link lol? I’m guessing if hardlink worked properly the link would point to one file. Maybe I’m off here but will try.

Media is downloading to downloadcahe and it’s set as primary secondary is hard drive, but I have the mover points to back to cache I believe. Don’t have access right now to confirm but I think I set it as such with the help of ChatGPT lol. Maybe need to keep it from cache to array?

Thanks again

So I went and updated the paths, so that hard links worked rather then copy. after that I ran it and it still shows the error.

sorry, but it really looks like your base setup is like hardlinks related

when you check this, is there content there ?

ls -la /mnt/disk1/media/torrents/tv/

and also there ?

ls -la /mnt/user/media/library/tv/

only one place it looks like which is disk1

root@Tower:~# ls -la /mnt/disk1/media/torrents/tv/

Because it's not in the user path is that why this is happening? looks like there is only one file, which is how the hard links should work.

Do you think having another cache as I do, "downloadcache" might cause this?
