This fixed it right away.

Strange that I got the issue on a fresh install.

I also experienced the large logo on a fresh install.  This cmd line fixed the issue straight away.  Thank you!

It's fixed.

After the restart massive logo returned, but once plugin updated to the current version as of now, it's permanently gone.

what does this plugin do, it trys to help figuring which devices are not running optimal and suggests devices to try ...

 

1/ show how the standard boot states are and how the pci root to device tree looks like

2/ filter out which endpoint device belongs to which root complex and advices which to try

3/ switch these to desired aspm enabled mode(s) ... 0,1,2,3

4/ showing how the change effects it

5/ be helpful to may run more power efficent ...

 

but, this is really not something todo if you dont know what you do as it can make system instable and even may break hardware if hardware is running in wrong states ... never recognized it, just wanted to point this out ...

 

and some side effects can appear (bugs), sample here, my onboard Realtek NIC had issues when aspm was enabled with LiveTV .ts streams, had perm drops and so on ... more by coincidence i came to it and finally figured it (after readjusting satellite, after redoing almost anything, ... ) ... so i bypassed it, but meanwhile i replaced it with a 2.5G NIC (also realtek) which has no issues in aspm enabled mode (lvl 2) and takes no more energy then the onboard one (in 1G mode compared).

 

so, its a more deeper intervention in the sys ... nothing for just plug & play ...

this plugin will see it and advices the setup which you can pick up and enter, choose the level to try ... execute it

 

 

check the logs ...

 

 

and the current state changed now ...

 

 

and now ... the cpu most likely whill be able to "sleep better" ... higher c states

 

 

without this its locked to max c3 ... now its mostly in c6 and even slightly in c8, spares ~ 2 W idle power and sys keeps cooler

 

if you didnt inform yourself about aspm, c states, ... dont use it ... its more a helper for ppl who are looking for solutions and want to see what is possible ...

 

note, AMD base system are very picky and really likes to crash when you are to power efficent on the road

When is media cache plugin releasing ? Im excited to try it out its something i want to use there is something already available called plexcache script but i dont use plex , so this media cache plugin will help me .

but may as info, i hrewrote around the half of it as i ran into some issues with latest v7 here

 

 

which i did today, also redone the UI to make it a little more "user friendly" and Infos better "human readable"

 

 

i have a new small beta test running with some friends here, and if its stable so far i ll release a beta latest end of this week.

Im sorry i didnt mean in that way , I just wanted a quick update as im excited to test it out .

 

well, who is willing to test before my internal testings are done ...

 

as i couldnt find any errors currently ... i release cache mover now, stated as beta for now until i get some more feedback, tested on 5 mashines with 4 scenarios.

Hey @alturismo, thanks for this plugin! Really excited to start using it. Just wanting to check my setup with you, if I may? Im wanting to cache my two folders (movies series) which are on my array (share is called media, under media there are both top level folders).  

 

I've applied this config and hoping something starts to happen. Regarding the secondary folder mentioned, is this a folder I need to make on the cache share? Or does this need to be a new unraid share? Thanks.

actually for me they are only "keywords" to look for, so you cant do anything really wrong there

 

Important are disk devices, pool device and expire target dir (should always be user0)

 

sample from here (recommended)

 

 

Secondary should be like the TV_Show Folder/Share ... as this plugin will always move complete Season (1 folder up), and therefore you can keep 1 "lets call it sub share" longer residing on cache without permanent watching ...

in your case, subfolder doesnt match any of the looked up ones, i would recommend "series" in your case.

 

i ve added some help on every point, may take a look and let me know where its unclear.

 

and you didnt activate "script list", if not, this plugin will only copy (or move) your files to cache and switch now, but no further processing like delete, moving back, ... will be done.

Hello, I want to ask about that new Cache Mover plugin. As I understand description it move media file that is actually played by somebody to cache? What if my Emby will crash for few people that will be actually playing that file?

i ve implemented a "special feature" called "switch" which will live switch to cache file without interruption ... and your disks will go back to sleep after copy is done (after the spindown wait time of course)

 

you have 3 choices

 

 

and btw, if you use the copy (recommended) feature and wouldnt use the switch / close feature, playback would just continue playing from the array disk ... which would make this almost obsolete for movies, then i would recommend it only for TV Shows so only 1 eisode is played from array and the rest from the season would be played from cache then.

sample, i play a movie here, it starts reading from array disk ... now when the timer is triggered (buttom 1st cron), it ll look for open files, if there is a open file, wait N seconds (wait time) if the file is still open (to make sure you really watch something) ... if yes, then copy over to cache, if its only a movie ... just the movie, if its a season folder from a Show, then complete Season, when copy is done, "live switch" in background to pool disk (cache ssd ...) and free the array disk now ... so it can go back to sleep  and i dont even recognize it ... just that there is "silence" and no more disk activity.

 

the 2nd cron in the buttom (cleaner) will look for the cached files and if they where copied either wipe then again from cache or move them to Recycle or if they hwere moved from array to cache move them back to array ... and keep my cache list and mover tuning plugin exclude list in sync ...

Thanks for explanation @alturismo. That's sounds great. I have some other questions about that plugin:
1. If one person start playback of file. Play for few minutes, it will copy to cache. Then when other people want to play the same file their playback will start from that cache and array drives will still sleep?
2. If One person will start watching file, then other persons will start the same movie on emby and it will be copied to cache in the same time, will be no lags?
3. If I have only one 500GB cache ssd drive that have only 117GB free space, can I use my second SSD drive that is connected with USB? I use it only for emby transcoding folder and it have only 8GB space used.

yes, plugin will run only single task so this cant happen, and "users" on emby are not relevant ... emby server is accessing the file/s

nope, i dont think so (actually never tried), as your 3rd drive wont be part of /mnt/user/movies as sample .... so it will be out of scope for your Emby Server ...

 

but you brought me to an idea and i ll think about such a solution for emby and plex.
