Hi, im on unraid 6.12.11 and im not planning to upgrade until unraid 7 stable is released, i tried to install unraid media cache plugin but it doesn’t seem to install on unraid 6.12.11

Perhaps you can cooperate with this creator or borrow some ideas for your plugin

nice, but its a different approach  my family likes to run through a lib and say, hey, lets watch this now (again)

without planning and putting stuff on a watchlist ...

 

so rather no as its a different approach and i also like the idea to be "software independant", my solution here is intended to "live switch" and working on any case you access Mediafiles, via smb, media servers, ... also, i prefer "copy" to cache instead "moving" around forward, backwards, ...

 

therefore there wont be such nice features like "move_watched"  directly and so on ...

 

actually we can be happy there are choices out there

I installed "Cache Mover" everthing works fine, but I will monitor that.

I have now Target pool: pointing to the standard pool for my media. 

Is there a benefit of pointing this to seperate cache drive?

thats exactly how it should be, most likely user0 (user0 is without cache drive array only, user is including cache drive)

 

i think i have to rewrite some readme  but you did it the right way ... if we talk about this here ...

 

 

there the plugin looks for existing File to decide moving back to array (if not existend) or (if existend) then either wipe or delete to recycle is enabled ...

 

so its mandatory that this is your /mnt/user0 path where the hdd's are lying under ... and where we grab the files for caching

ok, made some tests here with plex, rewriting live to an external disk aint the point, working fine and also working "live", but ... the issue is the priority in plex, whatever i do the cached file would be almost anytime "2nd choice" only for now ...

means in the end, "copy" wouldnt work, only move forward to external, when watched and after N time, move backwards to array ... as this is not my recommended way in my terms i ll have to dig further to get the complete feature working as it should be ...

 

because once you hit stop and start again, plex will take the 1st hit which would be array disk again ...

 

so sorry for now, aint a easy solution for now ... suggestion, get a bigger cache drive  sorry to say ...

SO, I really like how PWM Fan works but I have one issue that can't make me switch from Dynamix auto fan controller.

There is only 2 active control settings. is there any possibility to add more fan settings to control more fan separately from each other?
So all of the fans don't have to speed up based on one Hard drive Temp?

example:
CPU - Fan 1
HDD 1 2 3 - Fan 2
HDD 4 5 6 - Fan 3
HDD 7 8 9 - Fan 4

yes, but also the capability to control via CPU Temp  that was the major intension here ... but ...

 

concepted for "low performance" systems which dont rely so hard on this ... and lets say 10 fans doesnt really look like "low performing" sys ...

 

lets see if there is more feedback here, if so ... yes, i sure can extend to more adjustable fans ... more a copy / paste job ... and some small adjustments, but longer setup page then

nope, thats the lowest version i run here to test on some mashines ... it prolly would work, but ...

 

and i cant support OS versions which i may cant reproduce "errors" which occur, sorry to say ...

1/ if you want post processing, set to yes (and you should .use it)

2/ set here a filepath where to store "history list" for post processing

3/ if you are using mover tuning exclusion list, then the path to that existing file

 

 

1/ if you want the plugin todo something  tell it when and how often ... as you see, i already made a "suggestion"

2/ if you want post processing (cleanup after X hours, move back ...) same there, once a day usually enough

Hi, sorry I ask so much about Your plugin. I'm not long time unraid user and when I get mouse over field where need to put something there's no question mark. Question mark appers when I get mouse over empty space. There's no info there's some help when I go mouse cursor there.
Second thing that explanation don't tell me about path. I have media folder in different place than You.

 

Last question if not a problem for You:

Can You explain that? I try that in google translator but I don't understand what is for.

sure, as you see in my screenshots too, i have like 3 "subfolders" (no pathes there)

 

VCD (movies), HDDVDR (movies) and TVRIPS (tv shows)

 

now, for 1 section you can declare a seperate longer time for files to stay on cache if they are not watched in the meantime

 

sample, a movie scenario

 

1 start a movie today which resides on the array, now my plugin will move it to the cache, i ll pretty sure watch this movie the same day (as i started it already) or may the 2nd day ... so in the end, i dont need a long time for this file to stay on cache ... it will be wiped from cache again after the regular X hours "untouched"

 

now, as my woman or daughter also likes to watch some tv shows ... this plugin will copy the complete season from a started file over to the cache, but as there are more break times between watching usually ... i have a 2nd "so called" special keephours rule here, so all files which resides on .../TVRIPS/... here will be left on cache for X hours, in your case its setted to 720 hours while the last time a episode was watched ...

 

in the end, its just a 2nd timer to keep some sort of Media longer (or less) time on cache, thats it.

 

and it should be one of the subfolders configured in the Main Part

 

so my explenation setup as follows

 

VCD HDDVDR TVRIPS

 

VCD & HDDVDR (regular as NOT special)

> at least 24 hours after last access time the sublette file gets wiped from cache (or if not existend on array moved back)

TVRIPS (special setting)

> at least 720 hours after last access time the season folder gets ....

these are actually "search patterns" im looking for in the path ... sample layout here

 

 

i call it "subfolder" ... it can be anything that matches your layout of files., there is a "sample" ... as you see i dont put file pathes in the sample, just simple folder names, so no, no file pathes in there (the plugin is reverse looking up the real full path).

Can You tell me what is wrong with my setup because after I watch movie for 4 minutes and nothing appear in `CACHE MOVER LOG` and `CACHE MOVER LIST` tabs.

sorry, but please read also the answers ... already given ... 3 posts upper ...

 

 

if you would takeover this setting, it would check every 10 minutes (0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50) ... so as sample 22:10 it will look here again for open files ... and then do its job.

Can I recommend a switch to turn off disk monitoring? or a cronjob to set so I can disable monitoring during specific times? The reason, when I'm running tdarr it triggers cache mover to add those files to the cache drive.

this is the timer ? you can set when it runs here (actually you must ...  )

 

 

to stop it, simply empty the field and click "set cron"

 

may also a suggestion, include only subfolders from "final" storage place ?
