Received "current pending ecc cnt is 1" on one of my data drives

Featured Replies

A search for the error led me to run a SMART test on the drive.  An extended test will not complete, instead gets stuck at 90%.  I left it running for 2 days (I believe) and it progressed no further.  A short test shows no errors.  I ended up stopping all docker apps, spun down the drives, and took the array offline then restarted.  Everything came back up fine with no repeat of the subject error.  I did try an extended SMART test and it again got stuck at 90%.  A short test still worked fine.

I can RMA this disk to ServerPartDeals and they'll run diagnostics on it and make a determination if it needs to be replaced or not.  My question is, should I go ahead with this or is everything fine?  I've attached the diagnostic logs.  I took a brief look at the SMART logs but I'll be honest, I can't make heads or tails of it.  Nothing screams "imminent drive failure" to me.  This is Disk 1, for reference.

Which disk? Don't see pending sectors on any of the array disks, but if the SMART test is not completing you can run a parity check, it's the same as an extended SMART test, since it does a full surface scan.

Disk is WDC_WUH721414ALE6L4_9RH9EAUC-2024-08-22 disk1 (sdd)

Parity check was last completed 3 days ago, but I can run it again

Parity check completed without errors.  I'm assuming that means there's nothing wrong with that drive? (or any others in the server).  Just want to confirm whether or not I should get the drive possibly replaced while still under warranty or just keep running it.

Not for now at least, keep monitoring.
